Innovative minds

The portraits of 30 innovators

Are innovations which require 20 years to develop still conceivable? How do you set about creating new technology that revolutionizes whole branches of industry? And what do you do about innovations that threaten to cannibalize your business? What makes innovators tick, what motivates them? How do they overcome the many obstacles in their way? And what is the key to success: creative freedom, bold visions and motivated teams? Or is it the internal and external networks and close contact with the customer?

"Innovative minds" by Ulrich Eberl and Jörg Puma

All these questions are answered in the book "Innovative Minds - A Look Inside Siemens' Idea Machine", which reveals how innovations take shape at Siemens. It tells the story of 30 innovators from all the Siemens Groups and many of the Regions, who have produced some of the most successful innovations of recent times. These range from piezo injection technology for cars to the latest tomographs from the medical engineering sector, from the halogen lamp to industrial automation systems, from the gas sensor for building systems to the gas turbine for the supply of power.

Many management books describe the ideal way of producing innovations, which entails using the proper strategies, tools and processes. However, it is almost always more complicated to arrive at an innovation in practice than it is in theory. This book full of authentic experience - packaged in exciting stories - is designed to encourage innovators and inspire managers to create a suitable environment that will attract and support excellent innovators. It offers useful information for all those involved in the innovation process, whether in research and development, marketing, production and sales, strategy and innovation management, organization or company management
