May 14-17, 2007 | Large Cities Climate Summit, New York

From 14-17 May 2007, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg hosted the Large Cities Climate Summit in New York (www.nycclimatesummit.com). The Summit, which was organized by the C40 and the Clinton Climate Initiative, brought together leaders of municipal governments and international businesses from 40 world cities. In total about 250 delegates are expected. Siemens was one of the major sponsors of the Summit.
Throughout the four-day event, delegates shared best practices and tried to identify collaborative projects and chart future actions to reverse the negative course of climate change and improve the economic condition of their cities.
In parallel with the Summit, Siemens invited international media to a special tour of various Siemens sites around New York City, from 15-17 May including briefings by Siemens executives to discuss technology and service solutions for sustainable urban development.
The tour concluded on 17 May with a press briefing from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, New York. Mr. Uriel Sharef, member of the Siemens management board, and George Nolen, CEO Siemens USA, talked about outcomes of the Summit and further discussed Siemens' work in the energy and environmental care arena.
