Siemens’ CT Somatom Definition, is the first dual source CT worldwide with two x-ray tubes inside. It will provide clearer, more detailed images, lead to a wider ranger of clinical applications, and ultimately produce a higher quality of patient care.
The patient was admitted with atypical chest pain under exertion. A 6-second cardiac CT scan was performed to rule out coronary artery disease. The heart rate during the scan varied from 79 to 86 beats / minute.
Comparison of the left coronary artery and circumflex artery in diastole (phase of cardiac filling) and systole (phase of cardiac contraction). Normally, only images from the relatively motion-free diastolic phase can be used for CT imaging. Due to the superior temporal resolution of the SOMATOM Definition, all cardiac phases can be displayed without motion artifacts.
