Bangalore Airport is India's first public-private partnership project based on financial participation (SFS) and solutions for, among other things, baggage handling, fire protection, security equipment, control center and power supply. A 40% equity participation by Siemens Project Venture gmbH is allowing the project to go ahead.
So Bangalore Airport will be one of India's most modern airports covering 1,500 hectares (over 160 million square feet).
The airport will be ready in April 2008. In the beginning, the airport will provide capacities for 10.5 million passengers (up to 13.5 million until 2010), thus reducing the acute pressure on the region's transportation network. On th long run, the airport will employ more than 4,500 people.
