In the future, car drivers will be able to precisely preselect how much electricity the battery should store and when it should be charged. The car will thus become a flexible electricity trader in the Smart Grid. Cars could fill up at night in the future, when electricity costs less, and feed energy back into the network during the day, when a particularly large amount of electricity is required. It is by all means conceivable that the car owner will be remunerated for this electricity. He could individually select charging and feed-in times, drawing electricity when it is cheap and feeding in when he receives the most money for it. In any case, the car driver can determine for himself in detail the charging status of his vehicle – for the daily commute to work or the start of his annual vacation.
