2007-Dec-19 | The SGT5-8000H gas turbine, newly developed by Siemens Power Generation, in Bavarian Irsching near Ingolstadt is the world`s biggest and most efficient gas turbine with a capacity of 340 megawatts (MW). After the test phase this unit will be expanded to become a highly efficient combined cycle power plant with an output of approx. 530 megawatts (MW) and an efficiency rating of more than 60 percent.
Now the turbine is tested for 18 months under real conditions, afterwards expanded to become a combined cycle power plant and then given over to the customer E.ON Energie in 2011. This picture was taken in November 2007 and shows the installation of the turbine in the power plant in Irsching.
