The SIPAPER Reject Power Station in Böblingen has been transforming fine hacked material into electricity and heat since September 2008. Fine wood sieve residue from the surrounding gardens and forests which would block up the furnace gratings of large power stations are burned in the new heating power station in a combustion chamber at 950 degrees Celsius. The annual amount of fuel of about 20,000 tons creates the energy for supplying 1,500 households with electricity for one year. This is equivalent to a saving of approximately 2.7 million liters of heating oil, the CO2 emission is reduced by 1,300 tons annually.
