In early August Jürgen Vinkenflügel was appointed CEO of the Transformers Business Unit and assumed responsibility for global transformer business within the Siemens Energy Sector. He succeeds Bertram Ehmann, who has become head of the overseas organization for the Pacific region within Siemens Energy.
As a graduate engineer in engine construction Vinkenflügel began his career in 1981 at AEG Kanis, Essen, Germany, in the field of engineering and project management. After assuming further posts at MAN GHH in Oberhausen and European Gas Turbines, Essen and Belfort, he became Managing Director of Alstom Energie GmbH in Nuremberg in 1999. After that he was appointed Managing Director Industrial Power Plant Business at Alstom Power France. In 2002, Vinkenflügel was promoted to Vice President Service at Alstom Power Germany. In 2003, he joined Siemens Energy as head of the Oil & Gas service organization, a business unit comprising 3900 employees in over 60 countries. That organization served above all operators of plants with gas and steam turbines and compressors in the industry and oil and gas sectors.
Siemens is number two in the global market for transformers. Siemens has 21 transformer production locations with a total work force of approximately 8500 worldwide. Global transformer business is headquartered at the manufacturing plant in Nuremberg.

The Siemens Energy Sector is the world’s leading supplier of a complete spectrum of products, services and solutions for the generation, transmission and distribution of power and for the extraction, conversion and transport of oil and gas.
